Sophia Amoruso, the CEO of online fashion site Nasty Gal and author of the new book #GIRLBOSS, has gained an all new respect from me. In her new novel she bares all. Sharing her moments of having nothing at one point in her life and even resulting to shop lifting and landing in jail. Sophia had it rough but she gave up bad habits and decided to work hard and do things the right way. Now 30 years old, during the time of starting her business Sophia had no college degree, and no real experience in the corporate world. May I add, that I had that she’s known as this amazing women yet we’re constantly reminded she has no degree. There are plenty of successful women and men who’ve accomplished great things without college. I don’t believe it makes you any more with a degree or any less without.
Anywho, Sophia worked many odd jobs before she launched her online eBay store, Nasty Gal Vintage which later became Nasty Gal. She shared that holding down a job just wasn’t really her strongest point, there’s even a chapter in her book titled “Shitty Jobs Saved My Life.”I was inspired by her novel because she was bold and honest. She wasn’t afraid to let you know that she came from pretty much nothing but she worked her ass off (as you should) and when you do you’re able to reap the benefits of your hard work yet well deserved success. As I Read, I felt more empowered to stay true to myself and NEVER, I mean NEVER accept NO. I recommend #GIRLBOSS to all women of all ages and career paths. Whether you’re a fashion guru with the next online boutique in the making or you’re the girl next door showcasing your talents and trying to gain exposure/respect in a very competitive world, this book is for you. While reading, I laughed, felt in control, felt empowered, and even jotted down ideas and plans of my own to pursue in the near future. If you don’t own #GIRLBOSS you’re missing out.
