As I continue to climb this ladder in the blogging world my destination becomes more and more unforeseen. While I may not know all of my fate as a blogger presently, I am very much aware of my vision and what I am working toward. Blogging consist of a lot of branding, growing and creating a name for yourself. I am a firm believer that if you want your blog to be successful you have to have a brand, it just becomes apart of the process. I learn daily new keys to success of being a blogger. I do not have it all figured out after 5-6 years, and in the last 2-3 years is where I’ve seen my most success. As I continue to build my brand and blog I take note of all the things I need along with what I do not need. I often write down a list of questions every few weeks.
The questions change from time to time, but if I feel like I haven’t successfully answered the question I won’t cross them off of my list until I do. Currently, my main questions are what is it about my blog that has kept me relevant? What about my brand can undergo some changes? How can I perfect my craft while still delivering powerful messages? How can I grow my brand and gain more exposure? These are just some of the questions I ask myself when it’s time to re-evaluate my strategies as a blogger. I’ve taken note of some key points that have been not only very useful to me, but have helped substantially with my blog and brand.
Have A Vision: Before I began writing anything I knew my vision was to inspire and encourage other women. Was the vision expected to grow beyond that? Of course it was, but the key point for my beginning stages was my vision. I knew what I wanted to achieve and I knew that once I set out on that path other things would develop with time.
Remain Socially Connected: I wasn’t as always as big on social media as I am today. I’ve altered how I connect socially because I know it means exposure for my blog and my brand. I interact and connect with other bloggers on twitter. I have chats with my readers, I respond to every comment and email. I love Facebook. Being socially connected is a MAJOR factor in your blog and your brand. I know that for me I love to see my favorite bloggers and authors post more than links to their work on their social sites. I am certain that my supports expect the same from me as well.
Find A Signature to Be Recognized By: Most bloggers have an infamous #Hashtag or their name alone rings bells. When I started Whoisamberjanae.com I knew that I wanted to end every post with a positive message that my readers could take with them. I created, Be Inspired. Be Encouraged. Be Blessed and it stuck with me. I believe that it’s one of the things that most people see and tie it back to my blog. It’s a message that allows my blog to be remembered, but also has a way of sending positive vibes to my readers.
Develop What You Deliver Over Time: There have been a multitude of changes here on the blog and with my overall brand as well. Positive changes to me insure that you take your blog and brand seriously. I know for me, implementing changes has served as a growth tool. I’ve accepted that with time my message grows, my brand grows, so what I am delivering is subject to grow as well. When you consider the development of your blog and brand’s delivery it’s a sign that you want to continue to grow and move forward. It signifies that you take your blog and you brand seriously.
Don’t Let The Lack of Patience Allow You To Quit: There are days when I just want to give up. I get frustrated with blogging sometimes. I do not always feel inspired enough to create new material, but I’ve never given up. No matter how many times I’ve entertained the thought I’ve kept going. I believe what’s allowed that is I’ve always known my vision. I knew that my goal was to inspire others through my blog and by giving up on the blog I was giving up on my readers and supporters. What you seek to reach has to be more than about accolades, benefitting financially, etc. There has to truly be a passion within that, that allows you to know that no matter how difficult the road ahead may seem you’ll never give up.
I wish that as a blogger I have all of the answers and knew exactly what to do to make it all happen. But, just like the majority of you I am learning as I grow. What I do know is that I am not limited to knowledge and learning new things, so I always make it a point to share what I’ve learned. What works for me may not always work for you, but it’s a start in the right direction. I hope that you’re able to take some of my lessons as a blogger and incorporate them into your brand somehow, someway. Wishing you all blessings on your continued journey as successful bloggers while building your brands.
Be Inspired. Be Encouraged. Be Blessed.
