Are You Worried About Speed or The Direction In Which You’re Headed

AdereniMany of us are moved by what someone else glorifies. There are a lot of us who are so fascinated these days with the destination of others, which in turn diminishes the beauty in how we view our own journey. When you’re unaware of your true value your attraction to someone else’s value always overshadows your own. One must not be in rush to obtain what others have, but solely focused on moving at the pace of what our individual journey requires. Destination is more important. It doesn’t matter how fast we get there, as long as we get there. How many times have you been in a rush to achieve something just to say you’ve achieved it before someone else? How many times have you been in a rush to make it to place just to say you’ve arrived there before someone else? How many times have you gone broke on the account of material gain just to be able to say you have it?

What diminishes the beauty of our destination is the lack of concern of the lessons learned along the way. The way we view ourselves lacks substance. Over time I learned, the moments I was living to appease an audience and not myself were moments I lacked knowledge of my own value. A lot of the times what we desire isn’t driven by us but rather all that we’re surrounded by. When you know your own value you’re unconcerned of how you appear to the world. When you know your own value you’re not in a rush to look the part, you simple cherish the journey of life unconsumed by societal standards. We are always so concerned at how we are perceived by people who don’t even matter. We are concerned about being better or being in constant competition. All of these things we are concerned with before we are truly focused on our direction and why we wish to get to the destination in the first place. Ask yourself? Is the place I am headed truly what I want for myself? Have I adopted someone else’s dreams for the sake of how it looks or what it may potentially offer? Am I fascinated by someone else so much that I am focused on becoming the best version of them and not the best version of myself? Am I focused on speed or am I focused on the destination?

What is for you is for you. What is for us is for all of us. Nobody has ever prevailed seeking what does not belong to them. You may get close, you may develop similarities, but at the end of the day no true value is found in a carbon copy. Do you not know your value and how significant it is to be true to who you are? The beauty of knowing your value and being true to you is that you’re not in a rush to get there. You are content in the fact that what is being birthed and perfected within you will be a depiction of your best self. You’re not concerned with speed because you know anything of great measure takes time and precision. The best you requires time. The beauty that awaits at YOUR destination is worth the time it takes to get there. Be in a rush to be prepared for what’s yours. Do not be in a rush to gain what has already been prepared for someone else. Know your value. Know who you are. It doesn’t matter how fast you get there if your integrity and character are incapable of handling what awaits at the destination what good will it do? Trust that speed is not required for your destination because what has been prepared and laid out for you was predestined long before you set out on your journey.

Direction is so much more important than speed, many are going nowhere fast.” – AJ

  1. I agree so much with you AJ, I have constantly found myself spending so much time and effort rushing to be ahead of everyone else, especially with my school work yet today I have been reminded that the destination is what matters and sometimes speed kills, hahaha. Thank you!

    1. Don’t rush your process and certainly don’t rush to be ahead of anyone especially in school. You are where you are at the point that you are for a reason. Every day you’re only goal should be to be a better version of who you were the day before. Keep evolving. Wishing you nothing but blessings and success, xo! ❤
