6 Ways to Challenge Yourself and Commit to Growth In The New Year

shaylaSon, it’s 2017 and I am at a loss for words. How did we get here? How did this happen? Why did time move so fast? There really isn’t much time for us to get our ish together before this year is over. One of the first things I tend to evaluate about my year is how much did I invest in me? How did I grow or did I even grow at all? Self-assessment is extremely important for me. I like to ensure that I am not taking any unwanted habits with me into the New Year. So how does one properly prepare for the New Year? I have a few tips that’ll get you started on the road to becoming a better you and carrying those habits throughout the year.

Start with learning and understanding who you truly are. Let go of trying to become anything or anyone other than you truly are.”

Start Being More Proactive

A lot of us are waiting for 2017 to get started on the things we seek to accomplish in the coming year. What if I told you that you could start now? Setting intentions over your life is one thing, but actualizing the intentions you set and working to make them your reality is another. You don’t need to wait for a specific time or day to be great. The time is now. So get a move on the goals right away!

Commit to Your Own Growth and Healing

Taking any past traumas or attachments into New Year will only further support you living and refusing to rid yourself of blockages and bondages that are no longer serving you. In order to attract better we have to be better. In order to be better we have to commit to taking action and becoming the person we desire to be. If we aren’t intentional about our growth and healing right now, we will only take the same things with us into the New Year that have successfully been keeping us from progressing. Start with learning and understanding who you truly are. Let go of trying to become anything or anyone other than who you truly are. Love yourself unconditionally. Get to know how you’re supporting or hindering yourself. Be honest about the relationships in your life and if they’re helping or hindering you. If this all sounds like a lot and you don’t know exactly where to begin, I created a 30 page workbook to help you disconnect with the old, self-destructive parts of you. Taking action is the first step.

Whatever releasing means to you, do it. The first thing that comes to mind when you think of releasing things from your life, just do it. We sometimes don’t take advantage of self evaluation. It goes a long way. Being honest with ourselves is HARD. I know this first hand. But if your mission is “New Year, Better Me” you cannot be afraid to admit when you’re struggling and need to purge your life of toxicity. If it’s hurting you more than it is helping you it’s a huge sign you need to release it.

Develop New Habits

Often times we are stagnant because what once worked for us no longer works anymore. What you do for 23 days straight becomes a habit. So why not start now? Think of a few ways that you’d like to better yourself. What do you want to focus on changing about you? If you want to start being more grateful for your life and all that you have then start now with keeping a gratitude journal. If you want to learn how to be happy for others start now with randomly supporting other people. If you want to learn how to be more intentional about your peace start with taking walks in nature, doing daily meditations etc. Sometimes our old ways of doing things are what’s keep us from attracting new blessings. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Need more tips on how to attract abundance in your everyday life? I got you covered.

In order to be better we have to commit to taking action and becoming the person we desire to be.”

Start Being More Intentional

Being more intentional about your life starts with you not focusing on the things you do not want. We have to start being more careful about us speaking or thinking things into existence that are negative. The art of being intentional begins with commitment and consistency. Start with accepting that you want better for yourself and working on being intentional with the ways that you can manifest better into your life. Take a moment and visualize what desire for life to look like and consist of 6 months from now. Meditate on your new reality. Sit in stillness for 10-20 minutes a day. Meditate on your world. What does it look like? What does it feel like? What do you accomplish? Who do you celebrate those accomplishments with? How are you loving yourself in these moments? Visualize all these things daily but with visualization also comes actual work. Show God and the Universe that you are serious about cultivating the life that you desire. Faith without works is dead, boo! Need more tips on cultivating the life you want? No stress, I got you.

Change The Things You Intake on A Daily Basis

So, 6 months ago one of my best friends and I started this healthy quote challenge. This challenge consisted of us sending healthy, inspiring, uplifting quotes to each other daily. We had to completely eliminate sending meme’s, negative photos or articles that did not support our new challenge. Six months later, our challenge has been so positively impactful on our lives that we’ve chosen not to end the challenge and keeping going for as long as we feel like it. We send each other tweets, positive conversations we’ve had with others, Instagram post, books, iTunes, playlist, you name it, we got it lol. Start with changing what you feed yourself on daily basis. Cut out the gossip sites and messy social network feeds. And if you need to, stop being messy and spreading hate yourself. Curate a life that reeks of joy and encouragement. Find new, healthy and life changing books to read. Cut out listening to low vibrational music 24/7. There’s tons of ways to glow up your life but it really starts with what you’re feeding yourself. This is metaphorically and figuratively speaking. The good thing is I have someone to help me be accountable for the glow up in my life. So find a buddy to be accountable with on your journey and get to work on becoming a new you now. Don’t wait until 2017 to proclaim your greatness. #Blessup today!

Be Inspired. Be Encouraged. Be Blessed.
