If you’re a follower of mine on social media then you know I’ve been talking about my favorite oatmeal facemask for months. I am a firm believer that self-care isn’t limited to mental health. When I started to really focus on my mental and emotional well-being, my physical well-being was top priority as well.
One of my biggest self-care focuses has been transitioning to healthier, non-toxic, natural beauty products. On a random online search, back in December, I was in search of new quality facemask mask when I came across Zion Health products. Zion Health’s mission is to provide Superior Vegan/Cruelty Free Body care products with awareness and responsibility to the Earth’s natural resources along with supporting causes that improve our local and global community.
After spending time scrolling through their website and reading the health benefits of using clay based products, I was sold. The next day I made a trip to my local Whole Foods Market and purchased their Oatmeal Mask. One of the first things that sold me on this product is that it is created for sensitive skin. I am one of those ones with really sensitive skin. So of course I gravitate to products that cater to my skin type.
The best part? It’s completely vegan and gluten free. The mask combines oatmeal and jojoba oil with minerals rich clay to help purify, hydrate, and soothe the skin. Oatmeal is rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids that lock in moisture and cleanse the skin. With skin-soothing properties, oatmeal is hypoallergenic and contains both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties formulated to benefit sensitive skin.
How to Apply:
I apply a decent layer, completely covering my face. The website advises that you’re not just limited to using the mask on your face. You’re totally free to use it on other areas of your skin. I haven’t tried applying it elsewhere, but should I try it, I will let you all know how that goes.
After the application process, I usually let it sit on my skin for about 3-5 minutes. The instructions advise 1-15 minutes, but through experience, anything over 3-5 minutes is too much. The mask begins to dry and crack the longer you leave it sitting. When it gets to that point, I don’t feel like it’s effective.
The mask has a pretty high clay scent, but nothing that is unbearable. The texture of the mask literally feels like Oatmeal, and you’ll feel the grain clumps as you apply. If you’re squeamish or sensitive to textures, this ain’t for you lol. What I love most about the mask is, after application you literally feel a cooling/tingling sensation as your skin absorbs the mask.
After my 3-5 minutes, I rinse my mask with luke water and then, boom… I have healthier, more radiant, baby soft skin. By applying the mask 2-3 times a week, I notice a significant change in my skin. Just as the directions say, this mask has a source of minerals and Vitamins, Oatmeal offers amazing benefits to the skin. Ideal for those with sensitive skin. Oatmeal is known to help relieve skin irritations and inflammation, it’s soothing and gentle.
I hope that you all give this product and other Zion Health products a try. By clicking HERE, you can browse their site and research products for yourself. It’s actually worth it. They also have a section of books they suggest to help you get more informed on the health benefits of clay. I am looking forward to trying more of their skincare products and toothpaste… Stay Tuned.
